Humanity or Animal

I know this post is out of my norm, however, it broke my heart and I wanted to share this with a lot of you. For those that may not know, I have a passion for German Sheperds. I recently got involved with a volunteer group that works to raise money for K9 Officers to get them stab proof and bullet proof vests while in the line of service. I have a very strong passion for the risks these canines take everyday at the hands of humanity. Somehow we are better than animals? Im starting to have doubts. This is a piece someone posted on a picture of a canine stabbed to death in the line of duty August 25, 2014. Don’t grieve for me I served you well. I loved you more than you could ever tell. I am now an angel in blue. I laid my life on the line for you. I wore my badge with honor every day, to keep citizens safe and out of harms way. so when you see a badge worn with pride, remember the canines who have served and died. Fears grow and love is lost

Love is sometimes this thin, graceful cloak that is supposed to envelope you, protect, dry your tears, dissipate your fears and make the world more bearable. Completely encompassed in loves graceful arms.  What happens if through no direct fault of your own that thin veil that should be as strong as titanium starts to tear? When your fairytale dream comes to a screeching halt and you don’t know if it will ever be the same. I’m sure most of you assume I am talking about cheating or some other sort of infidelity, but I assure you I am not. The monster in this case is me. Yes, me, myself and I. I have come to realize that being an adult child of alcoholics brings a lot more to life than one could e...

K-9 Prayer

I saw this poem online and decided I had to post it. So many K-9's die in the line of duty nowadays and they are truly unsung heros. They work day and night and never ask for anything. They are family. A K-9 PRAYER   Trust in me, my friend, for I am your comrade. I will protect you with me last breath. When all others have left you and the loneliness of the night closes in, I will be at your side. Together we will conquer all obstacles and search out those whom might wish harm to others. All I ask of you is compassion, the caring touch of your hands. It is for you that I will unselfishly give my life and spend my nights unrested. Although our days together may be marked by the passing of the seasons, know that each day at your side is my reward. My days are measured by the coming and going of your footsteps. I anticipate them at every opening of the door. You are the voice of caring when I am ill; the voice of authority when I’ve done...
